PELLON TYRES CHECK OUT THE B.F.GOODRICH “ALL-TERRAIN T/A KO”

This tyre is a classic amongst 4x4 tyre enthusiasts”says Eric Roberts
Pellontyres in Halifax, say this tyre is one of the most popular 4x4 tyres to be used in Calderdale district situated on the edge of the Pennine mountain range. This 4x4 tyre is as good on normal roads and equally as good when off road, giving excellent mileage and grip when required.
This tyre offers everything a 4x4 enthusiast and professionals such as farmers and other country people could want from a 4x4 tyre, a real pedigree. Pellon tyres always offer these tyres at competitive prices.
This 4x4 tyre is derived from the original BF Goodrich All-Terrain, from which all other All-Terrain patterns evolved, the All-Terrain T/A KO is one of the best 4x4 tyres that you can get. You can fit these tyres and forget about the road conditions, Summer or Winter, no matter where you intend to go. This tyres mileage potential is fast becoming a legend and these 4x4 tyres are extremely durable, especially with the advantage of having the "Triangular" 3-ply side wall giving extra strength when cornering or off road on rugged terrain. You could expect to pay a premium price for a 4x4 tyre as good as this but due to good buying powers BF Goodrich are able to offer the best competitive price through dealers such as Pellon tyres in Halifax.
Many people keep on running these tyres because of their massive mileage potential and their reputation for great road manners, as well as their off-road pedigree.
Eric Roberts says”Goodrich All-Terrain and Mud-Terrain tyres are the fitments of choice for the demonstration teams of virtually all 4x4 vehicle manufacturers”. The All terrain and Mud Terrain were both voted the best ever 4x4 tyres in their class by a panel of independent tyre industry tyre experts as published in Land Rover Owner International, August 2005.

Pellon Tyres Recommend the" Falken Performance Tyres" the ZE 912

Eric Roberts of Pellon tyres in Halifax Raves about this fantastic mid-range tyre from Falken tyres made in Japan and fitted in Halifax.
The latest high performance tyre from Falken tyres is the ZE912. This tyre was developed in Japan and exported to Europe to fit medium and small sized cars.
This new tyre, is “asymmetric” in design, the word “asymmetric” means that the tyre tread is a different design across the width and must be fitted the correct way on the wheel, it has an “inner” and an “outer”marked on the side wall of the tyre for a correct fitting. This design along with four centre grooves gives this tyre “extreme stability at high speeds and a solid performance during heavy braking. The four main grooves also help the tyre to get rid of water and the outer blocks in the tread help with the higher load bearings when heavy cornering.
This tyre is typically suited to small performance hatch backs and the mid sized saloons up to the larger MPVs for the best performance and results.

Kumho Tyres extend its range of the “ECSTA SPT KU31”

A big hit with my customers at Pellon Tyres, the KU31 XRP tyre adds extra dimension to the run flat tyre. This tyre offers the benefits of reinforced side walls and a special type of reinforced bead which supports the weight of the car when the tyre is deflated, the special bead ensures a complete secure fit on the wheel which gives a secure fit when the tyre has a puncture and deflates.
This tyre was first brought out for the Mini Cooper range, but Kumho tyres have increased the range to cover the most popular BMW 1,3 and 5 series cars with other sizes to follow.

How Important is Your" Wheel Alignment" to your "TYRES"(very)

In the Halifax area of North England we experience a high volume of car owners wanting tracking adjustment, also known as Alignment. Eric Roberts of Pellon Tyres in Halifax explains that the main cause for this is driving over “pot holes” in the road and “safety humps”.This can change the cars steering and suspension geometries or help “ break important parts2, such as tyres and steering components.
This can reduce the cars safety or add extra expensive costs, also damaging the tyres prematurely, but by ensuring the wheels are accurately aligned, this will be avoided and motorists can eliminate the effects of any potholes or speed bump injuries and make sure they stay as safe as possible.
The latest bad frosts will without doubt add to the amount of potholes that cause the destruction . Due to the holes that may be hidden with “slush and snow”, that can cause a number of serious safety issues for motorists, if a driver knows that they have hit a pothole they must get their alignment corrected, most garages will give you a free of charge tracking check and you only pay for the job if the alignment is out and needs adjusting.
An added sign that your alignment is out is that your steering wheel may be out of line, this will need all the front end alignment re adjusting and possibly will take an hour or two to do,  you could have to pay an add-on charge, so it may be a good idea if you asked for an estimate of the charge.
A further thing you should look out for when having your alignment checked is the possibility of rusted up steering parts.
The garage or auto centre may have to use some form of welding equipment to free off seized steering components, This will take more labour time and an added charge may be applied, once again a good auto centre will advise you of this and give you the option of to have the job done or not, it will be your choice.
Any good tyre dealer will give you a full tyre check for free, he will inflate your tyre pressures and your tyre tread depth, in the British Isles the tread depth is 1.6 mm for 3/4 of the tread area from the middle of the tread to the outsides, they will also check your tyres for lumps and damaged areas and then pump up your tyres to the advised pressures, this will be all part of the service which ought to be carried out with a happy smile if not go to another tyre centre.
To sum up have your alignment carried out at regular times, especially if you think that you have hit a hole in the ground or hit over a safety hump at speed. Always have the alignment corrected if you are having new tyres mounted on your wheels, even if the tyre centre asks you to come back later on, a few days driving will not wear  your tyres off, have your pressures and tyre wear checked frequently and if have any doubt of what tyre to buy,  each time go for a mid-range make,a good choice would be Kumho tyres or Hankook tyres, this will mean that you get good quality and the tyres will be at a better price than a leading make. Once again a good garage or tyre depot will be happy to help and check your tyres free of charge. Pellon tyres will offer you tyres online, cheap tyres at www.pellonautocentre.com using their online tyre checker.

Save Money on Fuel Prices with Eric Roberts "Motoring Tips"

Eric Roberts is a top UK tyre dealer. He has been in the tyre business for the past 40 years. Eric has been through at least 4 recessions in the past and got through them with flying colours, the latest being no different from the rest. Many people have come up with money saving ideas, and different ways of saving money and that is great the more people do this the greater hope there is for us all.
One of the main ways of saving fuel is through your car .
The first step is to keep up with your wheel alignment. I have written many articles about wheel alignment but it is now more important than ever. If your alignment is out then your car is literally fighting itself against the steering. If your tyres appear to be unevenly worn then you should get your car checked out by a mechanic because the wheels made need to be correctly aligned. Uneven wear is the best sign that your wheels are not correctly aligned. Improper alignment affects the handling of your car and increases fuel consumption. Yes this will increase your cars fuel consumption, so get you car correctly aligned.
Next thing to do is to keep clean oil in your engine. This helps keep your engine running more efficiently and therefore reduces the amount of fuel you burn off. It is worth noting that diesel engines require their oil changing more the petrol engines, just a point that needs noting, once again this saves fuel costs.
Another tip is to keep your air conditioning switched off when it is not needed. Air con can increase you fuel consumption by as much as 10%. If you are travelling at over 60 mph in summer it would be more fuel efficient to have your air con on than open your windows because of the drag effect.

Although it may seam obvious to some , correct driving speeds also affect fuel costs. Going too fast and using the wrong gears has an adverse affect on your fuel consumption. The more careful you drive the less fuel you will use, so” foot off gas”

Also it is important to keep your windows closed. By having your windows open you also cause drag, this decreases fuel efficiency, and so increases costs.
Also don’t forget that extra load also has an adverse affect on your fuel efficiency. Keep you car at its lowest weight. After a necessary journey remove any objects from your car that can add extra weight, such as roof racks, stuff in the boot, you know the things I mean.
One of the most important and easiest things to do is to keep your tyre pressures checked at regular periods. If you find this difficult you can call in at one of the thousands of auto centres through out the country. Most good garages and auto centres will be only too willing to check your tyres and your tyre pressures.
Some people will know these motoring tips, but a lot of people will not. I hope this will help motorists save money in this time of escalating fuel prices, remember to some motorists every little helps.Andrew one of our technitions at www.pellonautocentre.com/tyres.htm adjusts a customers wheel alignment to save tyre wear and "MONEY"

Eric Celebrates “40 years” in the UK Tyre Trade.

Eric Roberts of Pellon Autocentre in Halifax, West Yorkshire, is this year(2011) celebrating “40 years” of working in the tyre trade both as an employee and now the managing director of his own business.
He started out working as a car tyre fitter in a small tyre company called William Briggs, in Dewsbury West Yorkshire, as a car tyre fitter . Eric was a very enthusiastic worker and soon became office manager. Briggs were bought by Dunlop tyres and formed a large group known then as Marsham tyres.
His second stint in the tyre industry took him to a Leeds company called Kurt Neilds Earthmover tyres, which was soon to be a subsidiary of Goodyear tyres . Eric loved working at Neilds, as he was able to work in the different departments that the company had and gain a large amount of experience that was to become invaluable in his later life when owning his own company.
His main job was as an earthmover tyre fitter, covering the whole of the UK. For this he had to take his heavy goods driving test, to enable the weights of the large earthmover tyres to be handled on and off the giant machines that he worked on that were used on Britain’s new motorway system, including the then new M62 cross country motorway in his beloved Yorkshire. He also worked on the opencast coal fields that were prominent all across the country in the 70s and 80s.
In the early seventies Eric took time out of the tyre industry to work as a fire fighter but after a serious accident, he went to work for Goodyear tyres owned Tyre services, a multi chain of retail tyre depots across the UK. With his wealth of experience he soon became a top manager and was recognised by the American owners of Goodyear by awarding him a trip to the states all expenses paid.
This became a real eye opener for Eric, who soon began to realise that he could perhaps run his own business . His dream came into fruition when his long time friend Peter Winfield offered to become a partner in a new adventure.
The two friends looked for possible premises and found a site in Birstall West Yorkshire, forming a company called Kut-Kost tyres. Their business thrived and the business became very successful. At the end of nine years Eric and Peter had three retail depots and were now doing all the services that we now associate with modern auto centres.
Shell oil were looking to set a chain of fast-fit depots to rival the rapidly growing Kwik-Fit organisation and Kut-Kost were to be one of their targets.
Eric and Peter were made an offer that they could refuse and sold out to Shell. After a short period of rest the two partners decided to go their own ways and Eric went on to his second venture and bought a run down tyre business in Halifax West Yorkshire.
Over the years Eric has injected his own brand of energy and enthusiasm and built his business to the successful state that it is in today. He looks back with no regrets and explains”that tyres have give him and his family a good standard of living in good and bad times, meeting hundreds of friends and staff along the journey , not regretting a single moment in all the 40 years”.
Eric Roberts is still the owner of Pellon Tyre and Auto centre in Halifax West Yorkshire and offers tyres and batteries online at www.pellonautocentre.com
